The future of technological growth and breakthrough in Nigeria depends on developing the Nations human capacity in engineering design and development. This is the only way our SMES can compete under this globalised environment and produce products that can meet with the world's standard.
In her few years of active existence, the Institute has made steady progress in developing human capacity in engineering design and development in Nigeria; and working towards becoming a Centre of Excellence in engineering design in Africa. In the midst of her challenges, we are determined to transform the Institute to a place where excellent and reliable engineering designs are carried out.
This is necessary for a place like Nnewi that is gradually transforming itself to ‘Japan’ of Africa. With little attention from the government, we will be able to extend our frontier to the entire country in developing national human capacity in engineering design that will ensure that the Nigeria made products attain standard specifications and globally acceptable and competitive. This will ultimately lead to wealth and job creation. |

With a high calibre of staff on ground, NEDDI will be a hop of engineering designs for the production of right indigenous machinery, equipment and processes for processing of raw materials. It is our dream to catalyse the transformation of our manufacturing landscape from utilization of conventional technologies to the application of advance manufacturing technology, particularly in engineering design, with the ultimate aim of creating wealth for our people.
Our Virtual Manufacturing Laboratory (VML), the High Power Computing Laboratory (HPC) and other unique Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) facilities are national resource available to the tertiary institutions, R & D community, and the SME sector for engineering capacity development.
There is no doubt that the challengas are dounting. However, we are forward looking. We are determined to succeed. We would keep providing, motivating and advocating until engineering design is taken to the next level in Nigeria.
